MISSING MH370: 'Pray for passengers, SAR team'
BE UNITED: Nation moved by efforts made by many to find plane, says Muhyiddin
KAJANG: DEPUTY Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday called on all Malay- sians to unite and pray for the safety of those aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, as well as members of the search-and-rescue (SAR) operation.
"We are moved by the contributions and sacrifices made by those involved in the SAR operation, whether they are from Malay-sia or other countries. They have devoted their time and energy to find and locate the missing aircraft and those on board.
"Let us pray together for the safety of those aboard the missing plane and members of the SAR team with the hope that they can find MH370 soon."
Muhyiddin, who is also education minister, said this at a Parents and Community Involvement Programme at SMK Tinggi Kajang here yesterday.
He said the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the updates of the SAR operation on Saturday had given new hope to everyone, especially family members and loved ones of the crew and passengers.
"We sympathise with them and are concerned. The only thing we can do is offer our prayers, regardless of whether we are Muslim, Christian, Hindu or Buddhist.
"We understand the unsettling feelings (that the families of the passengers) are going through. Let us pray so that the missing aircraft can be located soon."
Muhyiddin said the country was grateful and overwhelmed by the assistance received from other nations that had joined the SAR operation.
"Nations that had received assistance and acknowledged our contributions in the past had called on the prime minister to express their concern and offer their assistance."
